I'm momsalittleoff and I would like to introduce myself and get this blog up and going:
I am a 60 year old mom to 2 adult kids. I am disabled, on disability, and share an apartment with my son and daughter, my friend's son, 3 cats, and a dog. We live in beautiful Tacoma Washington in a 3rd floor apartment. I have a bunch of hobbies, the most notable of which are: knitting, sewing, crocheting, baking, and playing table top role playing games (Dungeons & Dragons). I am an eclectic Pagan. I consider myself a Democrat, a liberal, and a bit of a feminist. I spend a lot of my time volunteering and sharing my baking with the homeless in my area. I love to read and am a social media junkie.
I was born and raised in Seattle Washington and served as a MP in the army, stationed in Germany. I met my husband who was in my unit and we were married in January of 1979. We were married for 34 years before he passed away from cancer. We spent 30 of those years living in Southern California. After he died, I moved to Tacoma and settled in here. I had many jobs over the years, but stopped working to homeschool my son who was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome. By the time I finished teaching him, I was diagnosed with diabetes and fibromyalgia and chronic back pain. I have been on disability since, but remain as active as I can be. I exercise on a regular basis and take care of our home so that the kids can concentrate on getting their careers worked out and any schooling they need, done. I enjoy organizing and cleaning as well as all my needlecrafts (yes...I'm weird) and I love reading and researching whatever topic has my attention at any given time.
I bake for a group of likeminded folk and we meet every Saturday to give breakfast and lunch to low income and homeless neighbors. I am one of the bakers for the group and I make biscuits and desserts to take to them and serve.
I also donate my knitted and crocheted items to the clothing bank that is adjacent to our breakfast tables.
I am politically active and go by my same username on Twitter (momsalittleoff) and as manicknitter on facebook.
